This was the cover of the ACSTAC 2013 booklet. ACSTAC stands for Anatolia College Science and Technology Annual Conference, which is an international student conference for science and technology, hosted by Anatolia College of Thessaloniki.

If we have seen further… It is by standing on the shoulders of giants…

The cover was inspired by a quote found in a letter of Sir Isaac Newton:

“If we have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants”,

which expresses the meaning of discovering truth by building on previous discoveries.

It is said that Newton used this quote as a metaphor for the receiver of the letter -a colleague of his- who was in fact very short.
